I got me a new lj because this name no longer amuses me. If you care, I am now [info]last_radio. If this looks like an attempt to make people take me more seriously... Shut up.

Sooner or later I will go through and re-request friend status with those who require that sort of thing.

Apr. 13th, 2006 | 04:39 pm

So my brother got his girlfriend two fish yesterday. They died last night. So I'm being helpful, you know, trying to help him figure out why. Conversation goes something like this:

we had, uh, a round-ish sort of tank thing, yeah )

*headdesk*

IN OTHER NEWS, the [info]wellymuck prompt is in Russian, which is causing me all manner of glee, but also minor spasms because the accents are in the wrong places... but then when I paste it into a txt window they move to the right places, and I am SO CONFUSED.

I am way too amused by this. ... Actually, I've been way too amused with this for about a year now.

Whee.

Apr. 11th, 2006 | 12:54 am

Just a friendly announcement for anyone who was wondering when I would fall completely into the abyss of dweebiness:

[info]deathofletters and I have a new project.

Ni tradukos kibican-fikcion al Esperanto, instigi mondan pacon, asistadi internacian komunikon, kaj vigligi geja amon sen lingvan limon.

IF THAT MAKES ANY SENSE to the random Esperanto speakers apparently patrolling the internet and/or my lj, because I am so new at this. But if translating The Illiad can teach you Greek, this can teach me Esperanto. Or something.

(And the people said: Balancu sur.)

Exegesis: Epilogue

Apr. 8th, 2006 | 05:56 pm

I am victorious, though a day late. Take that, Ephesians.

Also: I have some money and, therefore, food now. Which is not to say that I have not been eating for the last week, just that I have been eating only apples and a spare lunch kit I found in a box under my bed (non-perishable! non-perishable!) and frozen blocks of broccoli and the little box of cookies which my roommate forced me to take and for which she will not let me repay her, grrrrrrrr. And also a Quaker banana bread breakfast bar, but it turned out my tongue was allergic to that, or something -- just, you know, ow swollen ow -- so no more.

CORRECTION! Next semester might look like this instead. )

Я не знаю что я хочу делать.

Also! Because I have all this free time now and do not know what to do with it (I was supposed to be in New Orleans this weekend, stupid paper) -- have some music, wot.

"Boy on the Moon" - The Daylights
"Hello Conscience" - The Zutons*
"Gone Are The Days" - The Magic Numbers*
"Sufragette City" (Live) - Franz Ferdinand and the Scissor Sisters - kind of sucky quality, but it makes me giggle - taken, entirely legal, from the Franz site. Fan one. Or something.

* From Help: A Day in the Life, which you should buy, because's it's for a really, really good cause, and generally awesome, and I feel sort of guilty putting songs from a charity album up on the internet. But! I am not putting up the Radiohead or the Coldplay, or the Belle and Sebastian, or the Maximo Park, Razorlight, Kaiser Chiefs, Keane, Babyshambles (better track than most on the album, really), Damien Rice or Coral tracks... So there are still plenty of reasons to buy it. Because you're all too good of people to pirate the whole thing, right? Right?

[info]desetoiles: Eeeeehehehehe

Exegesis Pt. 2

Apr. 7th, 2006 | 01:02 am

"Well, it could be worse. It could be Leviticus."
-[info]deathofletters

New academic conclusion: There is one body and one Spirit, one calling, one hope, on Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, one church, one purpose, one eternity, one heaven, one hell, one Satan, one sin, one life, one death, one planet, one ocean, one continent, one people, one truth, one more use of the word one before I go insane and I don't give a flying flip what the original Greek translation is.

I would rather be writing [info]wellymuck.

Exegesis

Apr. 6th, 2006 | 02:49 pm

I get to squeeze 10-13 pages of academic research out of Ephesians 4:1-6 ) ...

In less than 24 hours.

Whoo boy.

So far my academic-research-based conclusion is that the church at Ephesus was full of jealous, squabbling bastards, and Paul was being far too nice.

F: Stranger Things Have Happened (R/S, PG)

Apr. 5th, 2006 | 01:21 pm

Stranger Things Have Happened, PG, 750 words. For Day 5, sort of... I was listening to it, right, but I don't know that it has any bearing on what came out, so perhaps my toes are in line to be eaten? Many thanks to [info]deathofletters for the help. ♥ And I am behind now, augh.

I am not really the sort of writer who should play with punctuation in any way, but I did, so ha. )

F: A Few Mornings in January (PG-13, R/S)

Apr. 4th, 2006 | 03:46 pm

(Lame) Title: A Few Mornings in January
Author: [info]omgsubtext, now [info]last_radio
Rating: PG-13
Word Count: 6666, exactly. And it was an accident.
Disclaimer: I'm JKR. This is all mine. ... Am I fooling anyone? No? Good. Have a cookie and don't sue me.
Notes: Written mostly for [info]blanketforts. Pure fluff. Like, what little plot there is was spun from sugar. You've been warned.

This is what I wrote on time. )

This is what I just finished today. )

... smile and nod, that's all I ask...

Apr. 3rd, 2006 | 06:58 am

What does next semester look like? I'll tell you what it looks like. It looks like my last semester before I get to transfer somewhere there are normal people, by which I mean abnormal people, but people I can talk to without feeling like a freak.

It also looks like:

Intermediate French 1
Intermediate Russian 1
Physical Science
Intro to Philosophy
Philosophy and Methods of Political Science
Western Political Thought 1
Contemporary World
Model U.N.

... And yes, that is a good thing, if anyone doubts it.

Subject to change, depending on what The Other University (like The Other Woman, right?) will accept as transfer credits and what it won't. I want ouuuuuuuuuuut of here. But before I go, I might let my Bible professor and C. S. Lewis re-convert me. Just a heads-up.

Edit: In which case, no, I am not giving up slash. I'm more certain that homosexuality is okay than that there is a god, so the latter is going to have to jive with the former.

Apr. 1st, 2006 | 01:10 pm

Just Until, PG, 1500+ words. For Day 1 of [info]wellymuck; also inspired, very slightly, by Rufus Wainwright's "April Fools."

In which there aren't any pranks, not really. )

Mar. 31st, 2006 | 10:15 am

My doctor hates me.

Every time I go, she takes blood.

(The time she didn't, she gave me a tuberculosis shot even though I wasn't supposed to have one ever, ever again, and I had a giant lump on my arm screaming LOOK! I AM TB POSITIVE! HIDE YOUR CHILDREN! PH34R MY COUGH! for two weeks.)

Anyway. The blood-taking. This is NOT NECESSARY.

I would think it was general sadism if she did the blood-taking herself, but no. She doesn't.

So she just hates me.

But I'm totally over it now, because I'm about to go get in the front of the GA line to see Franz Ferdinand. Yes, I wanna.

Just let me think I'm cool, okay?

Mar. 29th, 2006 | 12:35 am

Stolen (gacked, whatever the term is) from [info]melandry because it made me happy.

Something I have that none of you do: Pewter statues of Thomas Jefferson and FDR.

One CD I own that I think none of you do: The Foreign Born LP/EPs. And in the unlikely event that you do have them, I bet yours aren't SIGNED and marked with the band members' PIZZA GREASE FINGER STAINS. Hahahahaha. Mwaha.

One Book I own that I think none of you do: Zondervan NIV Exhaustive Concordance? Anyone? Anyone? How about the New Testament in Russian? And I have three other Bibles on my desk, too. Jesus. You'd think I was religious.

One Movie I own that I think none of you do: The War Room.

One Place I've been that none of you have: PHV in Heidelberg.

One Technological Toy that none of you have: Ummmmmmm. An electric kettle? An iHome?

f: With Him Where Ever (R/S)

Mar. 24th, 2006 | 01:47 am

With Him Where Ever, 375 words, R/S with Fenrir (blah), nothing offensive for a slasher. No beta. Could use an honest one, by which I mean one who does not know me, like me or care about hurting my feelings, which, yes, are easily hurt, but never too deeply. Oh. And. The song. It's "Do You Love an Apple?", originally sung in 1975 by the Bothy Band.

This is not what I was supposed to write tonight, dammit. )

F: Three, Two (R/S, PG-13)

Feb. 15th, 2006 | 09:10 pm
music: Idlewild

Three, Two. For [info]desetoiles because she is awesome, and also because she asked; sorry, dear, that I didn't exactly use the challenge you gave me or make it very long or any of that. Feel free to make me try again. My next goal is to write a fic that actually goes beyond the initial kissing, like. Un-beta'd, 1000+ words

They could have avoided the whole mess if Paris had gone for Menelaus instead. )
